10-2107

At about noon on Friday, Sept. 3rd, a man with a history of stealing walked into the Strawberry Moon Bakery (301 W. 9 Mile) and reportedly stole cash from the store register. Workers reported that he came into the bakery and made no purchases. While the workers were baking, one of them heard the register being moved and saw the suspect at the register. The woman told another 20 male employee who tried to confront the suspected thief who ran out of the door. The employee chased him to a parking lot where the suspect got into a car. The employee grabbed the suspect who then began to drive away, dragging the man for a distance through the parking lot; the bakery employee was then thrown from the car and suffered minor injuries to his leg. Another 45 year old man witnessed the employee trying to catch the alleged crook; he followed the suspect and contacted Ferndale Police by phone. Ferndale officers then caught up to the suspect vehicle and arrested the man.

SUSPECT: Bowden, Anthony Carl, 47, B/M, Detroit resident

Bowden was arraigned on the charge of Unarmed Robbery and is being held on $25,000 bond.
