Hybrids Moments Grand Opening

(Crystal A. Proxmire)

Records.  Altered vintage fashions.  Books.  Magazines.  Tapes (remember those)?  Nintendo games.  Even CDs and music-related DVDs.  That’s the kind of fun, eccletic merchandise to be had at Ferndale’s newest Downtown shop – Hybrid Moments.

“The idea of Hybrid Moments has been around for awhile now,” said owner James Weeks.  “We are a small collective of artists who wanted to bring our work to Detroit as well as bring all the great new music and crucial classics to the people. It got started with the idea of opening a record/independent designer clothing shop that supported its local artists in all aspects. The big question for a long time was where exactly...

‘We choose to open up in Ferndale for so many reasons that it’s to long to list out... It was just perfect for us! Our collective is spread out through the whole Detroit area.”

The clothing comes from local designers Altered Rubbish, Millie Beas, and Wolf Pack.  And the records have simply been collected over the years with love.  Weeks says that it’s impossible to pick a favorite, and that the store has music from a variety of genres.
