Get Ready for School with Free Backpacks and Supplies from Operation Kid Equip. on Aug. 14th

(Crystal A. Proxmire)

Operation Kid Equip, a Royal Oak based nonprofit serving Oakland County, will be giving away backpacks and school supplies to low income children from Oakland County on August 14, 2010 from 11am – 3 pm at the Kulick Community Center at 1201 Livernois.

This is the second year that Kid Equip has been able to give away supplies to help students with their schooling.  The first 250 children will receive a backpack full of supplies.  There will also be over 5,000 new children’s books available to all.

To receive a free backpack:

~Parents must be Oakland County residents

~Each child receiving a backpack must attend an Oakland County public school

~Parents must bring current Drivers License or state-issued ID card

~Bring a copy or copies of the Free and Reduced Lunch eligibility letter for each child receiving a backpack (We will keep the copy of the letter for our records.)

While we wish to support all children in need, due to limited supplies, there will be no exceptions
