Charter One Robbery
(report from Lt. William Wilson, Ferndale Police Department)

On Monday, 07/26/10 at approx. 12:20 p.m. the Charter One Bank located at 23011 Woodward in Ferndale was robbed by a woman. It appears that this same person robbed several other banks in the down river area.

The description of the woman at the time of the Ferndale robbery is:
White female
Mid-20’s to 30 years old
Short (less than 5’6”), thin build
Auburn hair in a pony tail
Wearing large dark sunglasses
Dark long sleeved shirt
Dark pants (blue or black)

The woman walked into the bank, approached a teller, and handed him a note demanding money. The teller gave the thief an undisclosed amount of cash, and she left the bank on foot. When fleeing outside of the bank, a dye pack exploded. The woman is likely stained with a reddish pink colored dye.
Attached are pictures of the suspect. Video is available.

UPDATE 10-1763:

A woman is in custody in Wyandotte and is believed to be responsible for several bank robberies in the down river area as well as the robbery of the Charter One Bank in Ferndale. The woman is a w/f, DOB  09/27/77.

The case is still under investigation. It is likely that the prosecution of this matter will be handled by the FBI due to the numerous banks robbed in different jurisdictions.
