Library Opening Delayed, Party Switched from “Grand Opening” to “Community Preview Party”

The Ferndale Public Library’s Grand Opening Celebration has been renamed to the Community Preview Party, after some minor delays have pushed back the estimated opening date to some time in early August.

“No doubt you are as anxious for the new and improved Ferndale Public Library to open as we are.  Maybe even more so,” said Library Board President Ann Warner.  “A variety of things did not come together as we’d hoped.  Chief among these is our technology infrastructure.  This includes installing a new time/print management system for our public computers, reconfiguring our phone system, and setting up our new security and checkout systems.  Until these and the aforementioned variety of other things are in place, we cannot provide the level of service we want to give.  So, we will not open for business until we can.”

The Community Preview Party will take place on Saturday July 10 from noon to 8pm, the same as the Grand Opening event was planned.  “We’ll have food, music, and games.  All of the library staff will be here to answer any questions you may have about what is going on here, and we’d really like to see you,” Warner said.

Over 150 people attended a private Friends of the Ferndale Library Sneak Peak party on June 26, 2010.  To read more about this event and the features of the new facility, check out our Sneak Peak Story at
