Ferndale Schools Announces Free Summer Meals Program for Any Child 18 and Under

Ferndale Public Schools is pleased to announce a Summer 2010 in-school food service program. Working with the USDA, United Way, and the Michigan Dept. of Education, Ferndale Public Schools will be providing every child 18 years and under, a free nutritious breakfast and lunch throughout the summer. Starting Monday, June 21, breakfast will be served from 7-8 am and lunch from 11 am - 12 noon on weekdays throughout the summer, at five of its school locations. Pizza will be served for lunch every Friday.

 

Every person 18 and under who comes to one of the locations (listed below) will be given a free breakfast and lunch every day. Everyone is eligible - there are no financial requirements or qualifications for children and their families. Meals must be eaten on site. Youth groups, summer day care programs, neighborhood friends, etc. are all welcome at any time. Meals are available to all children in the community, not just Ferndale Schools’ students.

 

Summer meal sites are located at five Ferndale Schools locations, listed below. Any child can attend any summer meal site.

• University High School, 1244 Paxton, Ferndale MI

• Ferndale Middle/High School, 881 Pinecrest, Ferndale MI

• Coolidge Intermediate School, 2521 Bermuda, Ferndale MI

• Grant Early Childhood Center, 21131 Gardenlane, Ferndale MI
