Every year on the first Sunday in June, thousands of LGBT people and allies flock to Downtown Ferndale for Motor City Pride. Despite some afternoon rain, the event had West Nine Mile Road packed with dozens of tables with information about gay friendly groups and businesses, and a many vendors with art, jewelry, food, clothing, novelty items, and more. There were concerts, food, a beer tent, family activities, and special parties and deals at Downtown Ferndale stores and bars. For more information about this fabulous Ferndale tradition, go to www.motorcitypride.org.The event is put on by Equality Michigan, a group dedicated to promoting equal treatment under the law, and encouraging people to rally behind that cause.
