Voters in Ferndale split up two teams of competitors in the Board of Education election on May 4, 2010.  Incumbents Carol Frederick and William “Chuck” Moeser ran as a team against newcomers Kristy Stoll and Nancy Kerr-Mueller.  The four candidates competed for two open positions.  Moeser received 727 votes to reclaim his seat on the board.  He will be joined by Nancy Kerr-Mueller who received the most votes - 734.

The Moeser-Frederick team and supporters gathered at Dino’s Lounge to watch the results online, while Stoll and Kerr-Mueller viewed results projected onto the wall at The Loving Touch. Moeser was unable to stay to see the results, while at Loving Touch the crowd was surprised by the split.

In both bars there were people being critical of others.  And there were also people who clapped and celebrated the fact that their campaign of choice had at least one representative moving forward on the board.

Jackie Koivu, who is known around town for her work with Relay for Life and her involvement with the schools and Ferndale Youth Assistance, had two campaign signs on her lawn this year – one from each pairing.  “I think they are all excellent people who care about our schools,” she said.  “This has been a tough election and alot of healing needs to take place to keep Ferndale moving forward.”
