Ferndale Public Schools Announces Three Retirements,
Public Input Needed for Replacing Two Principals
by, Stephanie Hall, Ferndale Schools

Three administrators in the Ferndale Public Schools have announced their plans to retire in 2010.  They are:

Elementary Principals:

Nancy DeRousha , Principal, John F. Kennedy School

Gail Snoddy , Principal, Coolidge Intermediate School

Director of Alternative Education, Adult Education & Career Center :

    Fran Foote

Please join us in wishing Nancy, Gail and Fran all a happy and healthy retirement. They have served the Ferndale Schools for a total of 65 years in an exemplary manner, and they will be missed.

Transition plans for the elementary principal positions are being developed to ensure the district’s strong leadership continues into the future.  Parent and ideas and input will be crucial to developing job postings that reflect the skills and qualifications the school community would like to see in the next generation of administrators in the district.

Two meetings have been scheduled for parent input for the elementary principal positions:

-- JFK Principal Search Input Meeting at John F. Kennedy School ,

Wednesday, April 14 at 6:30 pm

-- Coolidge Principal Search Input Meeting at Coolidge Intermediate School ,

Wednesday, April 21 at 6:30 pm

Superintendent Gary Meier has sent all Coolidge and Kennedy families (including next year’s new students) an invitation to attend the parent meetings.  It should arrive in homes by the end of the week.

Parent ideas are important, so even if you are not able to attend, please send your suggestions to: Community Relations, Harding Administration Center , 2920 Burdette, Ferndale 48220, or send us an email at shall@ferndaleschools.org, and all your suggestions will be added to the list of ideas used to develop a job posting.

Again, wishing Nancy, Gail, and Fran a wonderful retirement.  We will miss you.
